What Is Scrying?
Scrying is the art of seeing into future or past events, whether it is through the use of a magickal tool, meditation or a spirit guide.
What Kind of "Magickal Tools?"
Tarot cards, runes, candle gazing, crystal gazing, spirit writings and all the like are someof the magickal tools of scrying. Any means by which the future may be imparted unto you is a method of scrying.
When I was young, the older ladies held great stock in the pattern of the tea leaves left in the bottom of your teacup when you were finished. My grampa watched the skies for his premonitions while my mother felt hers "in her bones."
The truth of it is, there are so many ways to scry, that it is sometimes overwhelming for the beginner when attempting to choose a means whereby to see the future...or the past. There are runes, tarot cards, palmistry, astrology, numerology; the throwing of stones, bones, rose petals and teeth; the reading of head lumps, hand lines, tea leaves and footprints; the gazing into crystal balls, balls of beryl, slabs of obsidian, mirrors and moonstones; the...well, you get the idea...they go on, and on, and on.
The trick is to try as many different divination procedures as is possible and
only then choose the means which is right for you. But even then, the search
still is not over. If you choose tarot, for example, there are hundreds of tarot
decks out there. Choosing tarot doesn't simplify your quest for knowledge. It
merely directs it. Next you would choose the type of tarot deck and
then decide which dedication ceremony to use to dedicate and charge your
cards for your own, personal use.
I suggest you write your own.
There ARE, however, a few cautions which I will put to you now.
- - do NOT ask about your own death. knowing this information could cause it to be brought into play.
- - do NOT use divination as a means to meddle with the affairs of another.
- - do NOT ask the Powers That Be for anything you do not need. to do so would be considered a fallacious summons and could bring you untold emotional pain.
That having been said...have fun with your scrying, and use safe and sane methods.
Using tools such as the Ouija Board (™ Hasbro.com) can, in My opinion (whew! barely avoided
a lawsuit there!), be dangerous. Their receptors are too wide
and sometimes the entities/spirits that come through are very unpleasant, if not outright
dangerous.
Again, have fun with it. Do not take it frivolously or lightly, but in joy and great anticipation for the good things coming to you and yours.
There are many magickal tools available for the wouldbe scryer. Tarot card decks are sold at nearly all major chain bookstores...if you don't have one near you, go to the Tarot Garden. They have hundreds of styles available, and if they don't have it, and they can't find it, it's not out there. I've recently had dealings with these people, and while I do not endorse any company, My personal experience was delightful. I got what was promised, in the condition promised, in a business-like and expeditious manner.
