There are some basic rules concerning Magick and its use. These are not path specific; they are alignment specific, particularly that of a "right-hand path" Magick User. They are simple and easy to understand.

  1. Do not perform Magick in the attempt to win the love of an explicit person, or sexual favors from them.

Magick is precisely what you make of it. If you practice Magick in a controlling and manipulative way, then someone else WILL control you. It's that whole What Goes Around, Comes Around thing at work. I am a firm believer in what you put out there is exactly what you will get back, and in spades. So do as you will, you're going to anyway; my words of warning here will not stop a love struck teenager (or one with the emotional instability of a love-struck teenager....) from attempting it, but these laws are not my laws, and they are not pantheon/path specific. They have been formulated over thousands of years by experienced Magick Users and the misuse of Magick; something that is beautiful and positive, turns it into something dark and ugly...an instrument of evil, even.

  2. Do not do bindings, or any other form of Magick which will manipulate, influence or control another person.

    See the above.

  3. Do NOT sell your spells!

This falls under the category of charging for your gift. Taking donations may be acceptable, depending on the circumstances and whether or not a price has been named. It is unscrupulous and an unsavory practice which cheapens you as a Magick user AND the Magick you manifest.

  4. Never do Magick to gratify your own ego or to impress ANYone.

Magick is the manifestation of your bond with the deities of your chosen path; it is sacred and should be revered and respected as such. Plus, if you violate this one, someone/something will come right along your path to crush you and your overblown ego like a bug. It's that whole "What goes around, comes around" thing again, and like it or not, it's certain to happen.

  5. Never do spells to irritate, watch, annoy, harrass, harm, hurt or even kill another being.

Again, Magick is sacred and not to be used in such a frivolous manner.

  6. Do not practice Magick of ANY kind, even helpful Magick, on another person without their express permission.

This falls under the Free Will law. You have no right, be it Magickal or otherwise, to perform any spell on anyone else unless they give you their EXPRESS permission. This applies to each occasion, and each attempt.
NOTE: This, of course, does not include Defense Magick. For "turning the other cheek" does NOT make you a better person, nor a martyr. It makes you a sap and a victim. If those are the roles you choose to take, so be it. That's your choice.
