There was once an arcane law among Magick Users to never haggle over the price of a
Magickal Item, or anything to be used in Magick. Quality is the key, and you typically get what
you pay for.
That law is changed; however, since the early 80's. For those of you who aren't aware of the law,
then ignore this top half. For those of you who are, then please read on.
Money is a definite source of power and you are allowed to save and reserve that power source
in any way necessary. It is encouraged for you to make your own tools (those of you still tools), to
craft furnishings of your own design and whenever possible make the things that will be in your home.
Sometimes, this is more costly than purchasing something already manufactured, and doing something creative
with it to make it your own. Either is perfectly fine and acceptable. The point is, wherever you can, save your
money.
If an item is for sale at a flea market or yard sale-type environment, bartering and haggling is most times
expected by the vendor, and is not only acceptable, but preferred. Most times, when an item is priced by
these folk, a secondary price is already in their head. "I need $12.50, so I'll ask $15.00. Then, when they ask
for a discount, I can still get what I need for the item." If what you need is in a department store, or novelty shop,
then shop around by phone (that saves gasoline) to find the cheapest retailer. Ask if they give local discounts and
the availability of the item before you get in the car and waste your resources by driving, aimlessly looking for
what you need.
This applies to everyone, not just those on a budget. As Magick Users, we are responsible for the
decisions we make and the choices we follow. We are responsible for our lives and our planet.
Community projects and social service agencies can get us in touch with our communities and
what is going on with them. Networking can also save us money, by introducing us to new individuals
with whom we can barter goods and services.
I needed work done on My car. I could not afford a mechanic, but I had the parts with which to make the necessary
repairs. My neighbor had a new baby due soon, and was skilled in auto mechanics. I decorated their new nursery
in a creative way and he happily made the repairs to My car in payment.
Another way to effectively save your resources is to obey the local laws. Bail bondsmen and fines
will cost you in the long run and whatever it is you are doing isn't important enough to cost yourself
time and money and loads of frustration. Speeding tickets are annoying realities in our lives, as are parking
tickets, seat-belt tickets and other such forms of nuisance. Avoid them by not causing them.
You can also make modest investments such as Certificates of Deposit with your local bank. There are typically
three levels of return/risk; high risk yielding the highest return, moderate yielding moderate return, and modest risk yielding a modest
return. I'm certainly no financial consultant, but it does seem to Me a good way to make your nest egg grow without
taking the kinds of risks associated with stock investments.
Finally, here is a spell to help safeguard your money and make it grow.
Money Spell
Take a rare or unusual coin to a country crossroads (4-way crossing of two
dirt roads) the night before the full moon. Visualize the coin causing poverty
and need of money to be banished from your life. Bury the coin in the center of
the crossroads and leave it there.
The night of the full moon, after your full moon rite, as the Goddess of your
choice to imbue the coin with money drawing energies/properties, and visualize
your own energies mingling with that of the Goddess, going directly into the earth
and into the coin inside the earth.
The night after the full moon, go back to the crossroads and strongly charge the
coin with the moon's full power to draw money to you, dig up the coin, drill a
small hole at the top of the coin. Fasten through it a mounting ring, and wear
it always on a silver chain around your neck, carry in your pocket, or place inside
your charm bag around your neck, in your pocket, or pinned inside your bra (for
those of you who wear them).
Within three weeks, you will see light at the end of the tunnel.
