![]() What Is The Right Path For Me?What Is A Path, Anyway? :.The term "path" indicates a group of deities known as a Pantheon, a set of beliefs, tenents, doctrines and/or disciplines you follow. It is the heritage/alignment and basis of your Magickal Self. Why Do I Need A Path? :.Put quite simply, you don't. Some feel that without a path, their magickal lives do not possess the direction and structure they believe they need; while others crave the more unrestricted, open and free (but not undisciplined) ways of the Eclectic (one whose path is to NOT choose a path, but carve their own from their own studies and experiences). There is a LOT of pressure in the Pagan community at large; however, to choose a path. Much like the pressure in college to choose a major. *soft laugh* But this is not like college. This is your religious life, and as such, should be given much thought before ANY choice is made, even if that choice ultimately becomes NO choice. The path of the Eclectic is much wiser than the WRONG path for you. Until you've chosen, when they ask, say you are Eclectic. That means you choose to pick and choose and form your own way of doing things. It'll get them to shut UP long enough for you to decide for yourself which path is right for you, or perhaps it may be that you wish to remain open and available to all the Paths/Pantheons.How Do I Know If I've Found The Right One?Honestly, if you have to ask that question, you haven't found the right one. It's like your true Llove. When you find it, you will just... know. Also, the Path more or less chooses you; not the other way around. It's more of a calling than anything else. Most of those using Magick now, and in the distant past, have come to do so by calling, while others (a very few others) are born with Magick and the cunning to use it in their very veins. Usually these Magick Users were born to parents who were also Magick Users. Commonly, whether they were Witches, psychics or soothsayers or not, they had heightened abilities enough to bestow a bit of their strengths into their offspring. Those who practice by calling (most people), must work hard to do what those who possess the Gift can sometimes do inately. Sometimes the Calling is to a particular God/Goddess...sometimes it is to a specific land or group of people. Regardless of the source, when you experience a calling, and it is not contrary to your tone of heart, then answer it. Research the God, Goddess and/or land at the library to learn as much as you can, order books on the subject, or go online to do your research. Those born into Magick usually have the Magickal instruction needed to also know their path, but not always as in the case of an adoption, the death of the Gifted parent, or some other cause. Either way, whether it's by Gift or the Calling, your pantheon should feel like an integral part of your family. You should feel a kinship with your God/ Godess and/or Their people. |
