~•~Attracting the Fae~

Attracting the Fae is more a matter of where you live than when. The Fae are still out there, but they have adapted, or drawn further back, depending on their variety. They are also attracted to dollhouses, larger bird houses, bird baths in the more remote places about the yard. Children's forts in the woods holds a strong draw to the Fae, as do squirrel's holes in hollow trees and abandoned bird's nests. Small brooks and quiet streams are a favorite among the Fae of the water variety.

Depending on what persuasion of Fae you are trying to attract, you can build your own Fae paradise in your very own yard. *sl* Ok, ok, I sound like a Ronco™ commercial. But you can! *s*

For the water dwellers, I suggest a small fountain of varying levels, with shelves on which they can lie in the sun, set to a quiet side of the yard where the neighbors will neither be freaking ON them, nor freaking THEM.

For the forest dwellers, I would build small furnishings of twigs but use nice, soft materials for cushions, have small carpets and create just the barest of walls, enabling the sun to get in when the moments were opportune. It should have a roof to prevent the Fae gathered there from being in the elements, but the roof materials should be all natural.

These methods will attract the most common type of Fae; ie, the woods and water variety. There are; however, many other types who would react better to sensitivity, poetry, soft natural artwork, gentle music whispering in the sun-filled summer breezes. There are types of Fae who are drawn to creative intellect, quiet reflection and the softspoken words of lovers.

If there are Fae in your part of the world (and they are said to cover 80% of inhabitable lands, or so), then you have the chance to possibly attract one, or maybe two! Who knows? There could be a small colony or woodland city in your very own wood! So remember, Poppets! Don't go out at night, and beware sprigghands and banshees. Stay on the Road! Don't sleep near old oaks and don't step inside mushroom rings. Because if the Fae are about, other beings are, too. *tittering cackles*
